The Art of Rest

Resting Your Spirit with Guided Christian Meditation, Relaxation and Prayer.

To seek and find a peaceful moment, to dwell in it, hold onto it and savour it, is an intentional part of my every day. Some days it comes along easier than others, but always it is the place I meet God.

This is a gentle, guided Christian meditation based on Scripture, relaxing in the Beatitudes from the book of Matthew.

Visualise listening to the Bible passages while imagining being physically present on the hilltop as these words were spoken.

This is a shorter meditation with content that is intended to be light and uplifting as you settle your mind with Jesus. This reflection was inspired by 2 Peter 1:4, “And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature”.

The below Scriptures are included in the meditation and are from either the New Living or Amplified Translations:

Matthew 5:3-12

2 Peter 1:4

Peace be with you,

Kylee

I invite you to join me in an act of compassionately caring for ourselves by dwelling in God’s grace, as we open up a space to be enough, just as we are.

This quiet time is intended to be a place of rest, to settle in closer to the one who created us in love and be nurtured to gently move from self-doubt to self-love.

In this visualisation, we will be resting in nature as we breathe, listen to Bible verses, and mindfully practice letting go of negativity as we remember our truth.

Our inner beauty is what is true, and the self-doubt and self-limiting beliefs are the untruths. As they are washed away, may we be reminded of our deep worth.

The below Scriptures are included in the meditation and are from the New Living and Amplified Translations:

  • Luke 12:32
  • Matthew 10:29-31
  • Romans 12:1-2

Peace be with you,

Kylee

This is a guided relaxation in the form of Christian prayer and meditation on Scripture.

I welcome you to receive care, comfort and hope in this unhurried space if you are experiencing sorrow, depression or sadness.

In this quiet relaxation, it is my hope that you will find rest by allowing gentle prayer and words from the Psalms to wash over you, as you gift yourself some sacred time to be nurtured through the loving presence of God.

Let us listen to the sadness,

allowing it to lead us into caring for ourselves

and into receiving God’s rest for our spirit.

The below Scriptures are included in the meditation and are from either the New Living or Amplified Translations:

Psalm 145 14-18

Psalm 40 1-3

Lamentations 3 21-25

Peace be with you,

Kylee.

The meditations and prayers found here are intended to open up a place of rest, to provide a space for us to settle in closer to the One who created us in love and to receive God’s gentle care.

These meditations take the form of relaxation through visualisation. We are able to remember the tranquillity of resting in nature as we practise noticing our breath, connecting with the present moment and experiencing the peace of soaking in verses from the Bible. Each meditation has the purpose of leading our spirit into a place of peaceful restoration.

Christian Meditation, Mindfulness or Prayer?

As someone who has experienced significant mental wellness challenges in earlier years of my life, I have written these meditations in the gentle way I would have liked to receive Scripture myself.

However, I understand prayer is very personal, so have ensured that those reflections that include prayer are clearly labelled. Those simply labelled ‘meditation’ contain mindfulness and Scripture, but don’t include guided, spoken prayer.

My prayer is for you to receive an abundance of peace, hope, serenity and rest in the way that is right for you.

What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways.

Whose passion is to remain true to the Word of “I AM,”

meditating day and night on the true revelation of light.

They will be standing firm like a flourishing tree

planted by God’s design,

deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss,

bearing fruit in every season of life.

They are never dry, never fainting,

ever blessed, ever prosperous.

Psalm 1
