Whimsy by Nature’s Story

Whimsy by Nature came into being in one of those poignant moments where something significant was birthed within my spirit.

I was feeling kind of low at the time, which is usually the prompt that I need to seek out some quiet under a favourite tree.

I captured the moment in my journal.

“I am following my heart into places where God may nurture me through spirit-led creativity. I have no idea where this will lead, but I am open to receive, and trusting God enough to document it.”

What followed was a profoundly beautiful image that spoke to my soul in a way that transcended my circumstances.

I saw a gorgeous, vibrant patchwork of a variety of colours and patterns, roughly basted together to make a glorious work of art that was floating freely in the breeze.

Each piece on its own was unremarkable but placed together and arranged just so, they became beautiful.

A sense that these pieces were reflecting parts of me, and that my imperfections could be part of something more, started to peek out from behind the clouds. What if I were to gather all of these various puzzle pieces of me and my life, integrated with the beauty of healing, and rearrange them?

I received a vision for a beautiful life, made up of all these little colourful fragments, that I have searched out and arranged.

I saw a tapestry of colour and texture, inspired by favourite paints, textured fabrics, natural pigments, sunsets, flowers and leaves, collected and woven together with gold thread.

As I felt a shift within, I knew God had given me this vision to make sense of those blemished parts of my life and to see before me the beauty of healing through creativity.

I also knew this was meant for more than just me, and so Whimsy by Nature came to be.

Just imagine, a coming together of many works of art, a gathering of treasure that is a representation of who we are collectively, all of our stories expressed with pigments, papers, pencils, textiles, and all of nature’s inspiration.

It is my hope that the vision that has become Whimsy by Nature might inspire you to join me in the practice of healing through creating art too.

You are welcome here.
